Last Day of School

This week was Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate our dedicated and talented faculty and staff, and all they do for the children of Wyckoff every day. Also, Wednesday was National School Nurse’s Day - we are fortunate to have a team of nurses here at WSD whose expertise and caring manner benefit our students and keep them healthy and safe. Last month was Autism Awareness Month - check out the post on our website about the T-shirts that Sicomac teacher Mrs. Ellen Calamito developed to raise awareness about autism. State testing is underway in grades 3-8, and will continue through next week.

Battle of the Books

This week, select EMS students competed in the Battle of the Books tournament at Cavallini Middle School in Upper Saddle River. The EMS 6th grade team and 7th-8th grade teams competed against Upper Saddle River, Ramsey and Midland Park at the Bergen County level competition. Students answered questions from fifteen different books they read as part of the EMS Battle of the Books Club. According to Ms. Hazley, the school club’s advisor, “Wyckoff put up a great fight and even made it to a dramatic tie breaking round.”

Teacher Selected for Disney 100 Years

Mr. Angelo Bonavitacola, EMS Technology Teacher, visited the Disney campus in California last week after being selected as one of 100 teachers across the U.S. to be part of the Disney Imagination Celebration, all expenses paid. Here’s the link to the event he attended. In the last photo on the webpage, Mr. Bonavitacola is in the top row, second from the right.

Student Club Partners with Police for Fundraiser

On Saturday, May 20th, the MAD4Kids Club at EMS will partner with the Wyckoff Police Department to sponsor a fundraiser at Cyclebar in Boulder Run. Proceeds will benefit Families for Families, a local organization that helps families in need. All are welcome to join the ride, and can use this Google Form to sign up. Participants can pay in cash or a check written to Eisenhower Middle School for $25.
