October 2024 Message from Dr. Postma
October 7
Week of Respect
October 14
Minimum Day for Students
Dear Wyckoff District Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move deeper into the fall season, there are exciting programs and important updates I want to share with you.
Sports, Music, Clubs, and More
Our extracurricular programs are in full swing. Whether your child is interested in sports, music, or joining one of our intramurals and clubs, we encourage them to explore and participate in activities they are passionate about. Our middle school student-athletes are showing great dedication and team spirit out on the soccer field this season. Please check the EMS website for the game schedule. Band and chorus rehearsals continue as our musicians prepare for their winter concerts. Our school libraries are open and welcoming students. Encourage your child to stop by, explore new books, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Week of Respect
In accordance with New Jersey's Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights, the Wyckoff School District is proud to observe the annual Week of Respect beginning today, October 7. Throughout this week, students will engage in various activities that promote kindness, inclusivity, and respect for all. Classroom lessons will focus on anti-bullying strategies and building a positive school culture. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of respect and how they can practice it both at school and at home.
Notification of Assessment Dates
As part of our commitment to student achievement, we would like to inform you of the upcoming standardized assessment dates for the 2024-2025 school year. These assessments are important in measuring student progress and informing instruction. The NJSLA for ELA, Math and Science in Grades 6-8 will be administered from April 30 through May 23. For Grades 3-5, the NJSLA is scheduled for May 7 through May 30. For the complete schedule of standardized assessments, visit our website at wyckoffps.org. More information, including preparation tips and resources, will be shared closer to the assessment dates.
Parent Survey
Your input is vital to help us continuously improve our schools. We have crafted a Parent Survey to gather your thoughts on various aspects of your child's education and school experience. This survey is being conducted through ThoughtExchange, a platform that allows you to share your thoughts and rate the ideas of others. Your participation will help guide our priorities for the remainder of the school year. The survey closes on October 21. To participate, tap or click here.
Community Events
There are several upcoming Wyckoff community events that your family may enjoy. The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce Halloween Safe Trick or Treat will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 am in Boulder Run. The Wyckoff Township Library has several events this fall including storytime, crafts, and middle grade book clubs. Check out their website at wyckofflibrary.org.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or need more information, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's school or the district office.
Wishing you a wonderful start to the autumn season.
Sincerely,
Kerry L. Postma, Ed.D.
