Dear Lincoln School Community,

We had a number of class trips on this, our final full week of the 2023-2024 school year. On Tuesday, the 5th grade joined with their classmates from across the District at the Wyckoff YMCA Spring Lake for a day of swimming, games, and fun in the sun. That same day, our 3rd grade classes had a wonderful time exploring Turtle Back Zoo. Also on Tuesday, our 4th graders enjoyed a walk to the J.A. McFaul Environmental Center right here in Wyckoff, and saw a variety of wildlife while learning about our local ecosystem. Finally, on Wednesday, the 2nd grade students had a thrilling experience at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT, complete with up-close encounters with rays and other aquatic life. It was a fun week at Lincoln School!

We saluted our Kindergarten students this week with our “Kindergarten Celebrations!” Our youngest Lincoln Lions were cheered on as they crossed the Kindergarten bridge, and earned a certificate of achievement. Congratulations to all of our Kindergarten students, and thank you to their teachers, aides, families, and all staff who supported them throughout the year!

It is hard to believe that we are almost at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year! Monday is our 5th grade Memory Book Breakfast . Please note that this is limited to students, staff, and pre-selected parent volunteers. The Memory Book video will be shared by email with all parents to enjoy as well. We look forward to continuing the celebration by recognizing our 5th grade class in the traditional "5th Grade Farewell."  The "5th Grade Farewell" is scheduled for Thursday, June 20th, at 9:15 am. This event will be held outside (weather permitting), and we will recognize all of our departing Lincoln Lions with a certificate of appreciation. In addition, several 5th grade awards will be distributed. In the event of rain, it will be relocated to the gymnasium. We look forward to wishing our 5th graders well as they head off to middle school! In addition, the 5th grade “Clap Out” will be held at approximately 12:50 on Thursday, as we bid farewell to our 5th graders.

Please note that if your child is missing any clothing items, please be sure to check our lost and found.  All of the lost and found items that are left in the MPR after June 28th will be donated.

As a reminder, both Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are minimum days for all students, with a 1:05 pm dismissal. Kindergarten students will still have lunchtime in their classrooms; however, grades 1-5 will not have lunch on these days. Thanks to our wonderful PTO, however, we will have a slice of pizza provided for each student on Thursday. If your child requires a gluten-free slice, please reach out to me if you have not done so already.

Have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Father's Day to all of our Lincoln Dads!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal

WEF “BACK TO SCHOOL” COLOR FUN RUN :

Last Friday, we held a kick-off for the upcoming WEF "Back to School" Color Run featuring Adam Kaplan from Schoolathon!  Mark your calendars, this year's event is being held on Saturday, September 7, at 11 am at Eisenhower Middle.  This will be the official kick off of the school year for the entire community.  Here is a clip from last year:

Additionally, there is some friendly competition among the 5 schools:

•       “Top School for Donations Raised” Receives a $500 Bonus to their PE program

•       “Winners Circle”: Top 3 – 5 students from each school get to:

           - Stand with DJ and shout - “Runners start your race!”

           - “Blast” their principal with color

Obviously, we want to win the “Top School for Donations”!  Please help us get there!  Every little bit counts!  Funds will be used across the Wyckoff School District to fund scholastic programs outside of the school budget.  Let’s win this!  What a great way to start the new year and kick-off WEF's 35th Anniversary!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out directly to WEF at info@wefnj.org or 201-977-2885
