Dear Lincoln School Community,

We are looking forward to another terrific “Dads’ Night” at Lincoln School this evening! Doors open at 6:00 pm, with a 6:45 show time. Thank you in advance to our Dads, who put in countless hours preparing for tonight’s show to benefit Lincoln School and bring our community together. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Jachens, Mr. Korinis and Mr. Ramos, our Dads’ Night Chairs.  Thank you also to our PTO, custodians, and staff for their support.

This afternoon, we held a “Schoolwide Morning Meeting” to end both the week and the “Lincoln Loves Reading” month celebrating literacy. Our students met their reading challenge for the month (reading the height of every adult in the school), so I announced our school prize, an ‘ice pop party’ prior to the start of spring break. At our Morning Meeting, we reflected on the month of reading, celebrated our “golden ticket” and Core Value winners, and closed with a read aloud of the book Little Red Reading Hood and the Misread Wolf, by Troy Wilson. Thank you again to Mrs. Husstege for helping to lead our “Lincoln Loves Reading” month, our PTO for purchasing our schoolwide books, and our staff, students, and families for their enthusiasm and participation. Keep reading, Lincoln Lions!

We also had two special author visits this week! Jay Miletsky (known as “Mr. Jay”) visited with K-2 students on Wednesday and shared his inspirational story behind his book Ricky, the Rock that Couldn’t Roll. Today, acclaimed children’s author Dan Gutman did a virtual visit via Google Meet with our gr. 3-5 students. This was an awesome experience for our students to hear all about Dan’s books and ask him questions about his many characters and story lines.

This year, the Wyckoff Education Foundation (WEF) marks its 35th Anniversary, and will celebrate this anniversary with a special event that will take place on April 8, 2025, at The Brick House. I encourage you to attend and join in recognizing the incredible contributions WEF has made to our schools. Since its inception, WEF has raised over $2 million to support educational programs, initiatives, and resources that enhance the learning experience for students in the Wyckoff School District. Their dedication has helped provide valuable opportunities for our children, and this milestone event is a chance for us to show our appreciation and continue that tradition of support. Please see the invitation here for full details about the evening. I hope you will consider attending this celebration to connect with fellow community members and contribute to the ongoing success of WEF and our schools.

The Third and Fourth Grade Spring Concert will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd at 2:00 pm in the gymnasium. We look forward to hearing the musical talents of our 3rd and 4th graders!

As a reminder, if your child participates in the after-school intramural program, please be sure to pick him/her up by 4:15 pm, and reach out to the main office, Mr. Patanella or Mr. White if you have any questions or concerns. Your child’s safety is our top priority.

Finally, I ask for your help in keeping our parking lot safe, particularly during the busy morning drop-off time. With the nicer weather ahead, I expect an increase in bikers and walkers. Please follow all posted signs, use the designated drop-off area, and avoid blocking traffic. We also ask that you drive slowly, remain patient, and always watch for children, especially by the cross walks. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe!

For those that are celebrating this weekend, I wish you a joyous Eid al-Fitr!

Sincerely,

Patrick Lee
Principal

SUMMER ACADEMIES - MUSIC CLASSES:

We are thrilled to announce the exciting new music program being offered at the Wyckoff Summer Academies this year! Our dedicated Wyckoff music staff will be hosting engaging classes right here in town, designed to give your child a head start on their musical journey—whether it's learning an instrument, singing in chorus, or preparing for auditions at any of our Wyckoff schools.

Here are some of the classes that your child might be interested in joining:

Instrumental Inspirations: Students can get a head start on a new instrument or refine their skills, taking them to the next level! With the help of this program, our instrumentalists can become stronger performers and develop skills that can make them eligible for next-level programs like Jazz band and All-County Band! This program is available for both band and strings.

Center Stage Workshop: This dynamic program is perfect for students preparing to audition for the spring musical. Participants will learn acting, singing, and dancing skills to become a true triple threat. The week will conclude with a mock audition, giving students a chance to practice and showcase what they've learned.

Pitch Perfect!: If you loved the movie and a cappella, this is the class for you! Students will explore new vocal warm-ups, group singing techniques, and even have opportunities for solo performances, all designed to help them reach their full vocal potential.

Music Video Workshop: Dive into the world of music videos by learning the basics of choreography, lip-syncing, and performance. By the end of the week, students will complete an exciting group video project to share with friends and family.

Bucket Beats: Have a blast on a bucket! You’ve seen the street performers and viral videos, now is your chance to be part of the music. Students will develop rhythm and ensemble skills while having fun!

Garageband - Create, MIx and Record: Explore an exciting world of music production. Learn the basics of creating and mixing loops to make your own songs. We offer opportunities with microphones, and MIDI keyboards.

Please take a moment to review the Wyckoff Summer Academies brochure, which includes detailed class descriptions for all classes offered. For the best viewing experience, we recommend using a regular computer. The brochure is also available on the Wyckoff Schools website under "Programs and Services."

Class registration opened on February 3rd. If your child is available for a week or more this summer and eager to become a more confident performer, we would love to have them join us!

Feel free to reach out to your student’s music teacher with any questions.
